Frequently Asked Questions
What is UniTrust?
UniTrust is an Identity Trust Platform that helps organizations manage the full lifecycle of digital credentials and centralize all trust interactions. Its Business Wallet and Ecosystem Collaboration capabilities provide the secure foundation needed to foster trust at scale across B2C and B2B interactions.
Which edition is right for my organization?
Choose Foundation if your use cases require B2C credential issuance and you seek to join existing trust ecosystems. Choose Ecosystem if your use cases require B2B2C credential issuance, if you would like to host your own credential verification portal or if you seek to create and lead your own ecosystem of trusted issuer and verifier partners. Choose Enterprise if you require ultimate scale and governance with the ability to manage multiple departmental identities (e.g departments, business units, divisions, faculties) under a single parental organizational identity. The Enterprise edition is available under an early access program till release. Please contact us for more details regarding pricing and roadmap details.
Which DID method should we use?
UniTrust allows you to anchor your organizational identity to either your existing domain (did:web) or a permissionless distributed ledger (did:iota). We recommend the ledger approach for maximum resilience. While did:web is simple to set up using your current domain, a ledger-based anchor ensures your organizational identity and credential status remain resolvable 24/7. This prevents verification failures during website outages or DDoS attacks, ensuring your issued data remains verifiable.
What is the purpose of Domain Linkage?
Domain Linkage is a bidirectional identity verification process that connects your organizational identity (DID) to your official web domain. This creates a cryptographically secure loop proving your organizational identity and your website belong to the same owner. It anchors your digital presence to a public verified domain and bolsters the trustworthiness of your organizational identity.
What are verifiable links?
They enable verification of issued credentials without requiring a wallet. A user can generate a unique, secure link within their UniMe wallet and share it anywhere such as on LinkedIn, in an email, or on a CV. When a third party (e.g., an employer) clicks the link, they are taken to a verification page hosted by a Trust Anchor. UniTrust instantly validates the credential's authenticity and status, allowing anyone to instantly verify the data using a standard web browser without needing a business or personal wallet.
